Specimen Processor I

Job Description

Under general direction, as a Laboratory Specimen Processor you will be responsible for labeling specimens, assuring specimens are in the appropriate tube(s), entering specimen test orders accurately into the laboratory information system, and registering patients for all sections of the laboratory in accordance with hospital and laboratory policies and procedures and prep samples to be sent to other labs in accordance with the collection preparation and transport instructions provided by the receiving labs. You will provide laboratory support information, specimen results and reports for clients of Stamford Hospital.

QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:

• High School Diploma or equivalency required; higher education strongly preferred.
• Medical and /or laboratory terminology strongly preferred.
• Excellent communication skills and customer service skills
• Basic computer skills preferred.
