Description :

The Surgical Technologist is responsible for the preparation of the surgical suite.

They handle instruments during surgical procedures and maintain sterile conditions.

The role requires evaluating changing conditions during surgical procedures and responding appropriately.

Surgical Technologists must maintain knowledge of surgical procedures and related principles.

They may serve as preceptors for new staff.

Key responsibilities include providing sterile instruments and supplies during surgeries.

They perform counts of surgical sponges, needles, and instruments.

The Surgical Technologist creates and maintains a sterile and safe environment.

Preparing case tables with necessary equipment and sterile supplies is essential.

Assisting in the positioning of patients for surgical procedures is part of the role.

They work proactively with physicians to align specialty preferences.

Suggestions for instrument set changes to enhance efficiency are encouraged.

Surgical Technologists engage in cost-saving measures and suggest ways to eliminate waste.

Participation in safety initiatives and completing safety-related competencies promptly is expected.

Other duties may be assigned as required.
