Job Description Nemours Children's Health is seeking Genetic Counselors to join our team in Jacksonville, Florida.
The counselor will interpret family and medical histories to assess the chance of disease occurrence or recurrence, help patients understand genetic testing options and implications and offer guidance for informed decision-making.
Key responsibilities: - Collect and analyze personal and family health history to assess genetic risks
- Educate patients about genetic conditions, inheritance patterns, and testing options
- Provide emotional support and guidance for patients undergoing genetic testing or facing genetic diagnoses
- Coordinate and interpret genetic testing results in collaboration with healthcare providers
- Communicate complex genetic concepts in an understandable way.
- Document counseling sessions, findings, and recommendations in the medical record
- Participate in case conferences, research, or outreach as required
- Stay current with advances in genetics and relevant legal, ethical, and policy issues

Qualifications: - Master's degree in Genetic Counseling from an American Board of Genetic Counseling accredited program required
- National Board Certification from the American Board of Genetic Counseling required (or Board Eligible status for new graduates)
- Current American Heart Association BLS required upon hire.
