Job Description

A Software Development Engineer works on building and maintaining the core Kubernetes platform within AWS, ensuring seamless container orchestration and scalability for AWS customers. Responsibilities and Skills :

• Core Kubernetes development : Building and shipping services that enhance Kubernetes' capabilities.
• Scalability and performance : Working with distributed systems and network protocols to ensure optimal performance on a large scale.
• Infrastructure as Code : Designing, deploying, and managing Kubernetes clusters using tools like Terraform and Helm.
• Cloud platform expertise : Proficient in AWS Cloud Platform with system design, application development, testing, and problem-solving.
• Continuous Integration / Delivery : Hands-on experience with CI / CD tools like Jenkins.
• Monitoring and alerting : Setting up monitoring, logging, and alerting for Kubernetes clusters using tools like Grafana, Prometheus, and Splunk.
• SQL skills : Strong knowledge of SQL, especially with databases like PostgreSQL and AWS RDS.
• Programming languages : Proficiency in languages like Java, Go, Python, or C++.

Requirements

Applicants selected will be subject to a security investigation and may need to meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information; TS / SCI clearance with polygraph is required. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related discipline OR four additional years' software engineering experience. At least 20 years' experience as a software engineer (at least 24 years' experience if no Bachelor's degree). Peterson Technologies provides for an excellent benefit package to include generous PTO, healthcare, STD, LTD, Life Insurance, 401k contribution and Tuition and Training reimbursement. Salary range = $180,000 - $260,000 depending on experience.
