Maui Humane Society is an open-air animal shelter for cats, dogs, rabbits, guinea pigs, turtles, and other animals in need of safe shelter. We are the island’s only open-admission animal shelter, providing veterinary and routine care and helping surrendered animals find a new home. We also provide humane law enforcement services, humane education and outreach and low-cost spay and neuter surgeries. Our team culture is creative, fast-paced, and collaborative and we are seeking problem-solvers who love animals and have great customer service skills. Our employees are trained in Fear-Free animal handling.

What does a Facility Technician do?

As a Full-Time Facility Technician at Maui Humane Society, you'll take the lead in keeping our surroundings a haven for all! You’ll dive into diverse tasks like general maintenance and repairs, ensuring our beloved facilities remain spick and span. From mowing and pruning to minor plumbing fixes and some construction, your expertise will shine as you maintain beautiful grounds for our furry friends. You’ll operate various equipment and perform routine landscaping duties, all while working collaboratively with an enthusiastic team. Plus, you'll play an essential role in disaster preparedness for pet-related needs and contribute to exciting fundraising events.

What you need to be successful

To thrive as a Full-Time Facility Technician at Maui Humane Society, you'll need a blend of technical skills and personal qualities. Proficiency in operating various tools, equipment, and technology—including power tools, maintenance equipment, and computers—is essential. Your ability to multitask and prioritize assignments while maintaining a cool head during stressful situations will keep operations running smoothly. With your strong organizational skills and attention to detail, you’ll ensure every task is completed with precision.

A genuine passion for animals and compassion for their needs is crucial. The physical demands of the job mean being on your feet and handling equipment.
