Overview
The Infection Prevention Program Manager leads the infection control program across the organization, overseeing surveillance, regulatory compliance, outbreak response, and strategic initiatives to reduce healthcare-associated infections and improve patient safety.
Key ResponsibilitiesProgram Oversight
Manage the infection prevention program at facility or multi-site level
Develop annual goals and performance plans
Lead infection prevention committees and interdisciplinary teams
Surveillance & Reporting
Conduct ongoing monitoring of HAIs using NHSN reporting standards
Analyze infection trends and identify improvement opportunities
Report data to CDC, state health departments, and hospital leadership
Policy Development & Compliance
Update infection control policies to reflect current guidelines
Prepare for and lead Joint Commission/CMS inspections
Ensure compliance with OSHA, CDC, and state regulations
Education & Coaching
Provide training on standard, contact, and airborne precautions
Lead hand hygiene programs
Coach staff during environmental and process audits
Outbreak Management
Investigate and contain infection outbreaks
Recommend changes in workflow, PPE, and isolation protocols
Liaise with public health departments
Collaboration
Work closely with nursing, EVS, OR, sterile processing (SPD), and microbiology
Participate in quality improvement initiatives and RCA meetings
