Med / Surg RN Job Details – Shelby, NC

Location : Shelby, North Carolina 28150

Estimated Weekly Pay : $1570–$1680

Healthcare Setting : 5E Surgical Unit, 32 beds (average census : 28)

Position Type : Travel Registered Nurse (RN)

Contract Length : 13 weeks (Start : 8 / 25 / 2025 – End : 11 / 22 / 2025)

Shift : 12-hour night shifts (1845-0700), 36 hours / week

Guaranteed Hours : 36 per week

Weekend Rotation : Every other weekend

Holiday Coverage : Work 75% of holidays during contract

Floating : Required within region and scope of practice (paid travel time between facilities)

Scrub Color : Navy

Parking : Free on-site parking

Registered Nurse Qualifications

Active RN license (Registered Nurse) – North Carolina or compact state

BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required

Minimum 18 months of recent Med / Surg or Telemetry RN experience

Proficient in cardiac rhythm interpretation, non-titrating cardiac drips (Cardizem, Amiodarone), wound care, drain / tube management, PIV starts, and central line management

Experience with EPIC EMR, Alaris IV pumps, Omnicell medication dispensing, and Phillips monitors preferred

Ability to float to other regional healthcare facilities as needed

Med / Surg RN Responsibilities

Provide high-quality nursing care to patients with diverse medical and surgical diagnoses (joint replacements, colon resections, gallbladder and appendectomy procedures, amputations, medical overflow, hip fractures, SBO, NG tubes)

Monitor patient status and interpret cardiac rhythms

Administer medications and manage non-titrating cardiac drips

Perform wound care, drain and tube management, PIV starts, and central line management

Collaborate with CNAs, charge nurses, phlebotomy, IV / VAT team, respiratory therapists, hospitalists, and intensivists

Document patient care accurately using EPIC EMR

Float to other nursing units or healthcare facilities within the region as required

Participate in scheduled weekend and holiday rotations
