Position Summary
The incumbent assists in the coordination of bids, bidding documents, and 3
rd
party supplier quotes for the Power System Division's new generator sales team for projects to contractors and end users, in both the emergency standby and advanced energy business segments. This includes estimation, quoting, and technical support of projects through the time of project design and award. The incumbent must review bills of material on retail and large electric power projects, compare them to specifications and ensure compliance with specified items. This individual works to maximize profit on projects and achieve customer satisfaction in support of the division's budget and goals developed by the EPG Manager.
The incumbent will continually work to become a resource for answers to technical questions and application of Caterpillar and related industry products for both internal and external customers on core electric power products and offerings. The incumbent provides project specific input to project managers on submittals for engineer acceptance, and field application questions during and after startup, ensuring the successful commissioning of equipment.
Position Duties / Responsibilities
Primary Responsibilities :
- Manages the bidding process of the EPG division's emergency standby and advanced energy projects from initial estimation through the award of a contract
- Provides accurate estimates and technical support to maximize profit without sacrificing customer satisfaction
- Works with the service and parts departments to develop the quote ensuring all costs are covered and quotes are technically accurate
- As required, is able to answer basic technical and application questions with respect to Caterpillar and other related products for consulting engineers, electrical contractors, salespeople, project managers, and the parts and service departments
- Works with Caterpillar and other vendors to obtain answers to questions of a technical nature
- Develops a close working relationship with suppliers and their field representatives in support of the projects to achieve customer satisfaction
- Develops relationships with select consulting engineers that results in specifications identifying a preference for Caterpillar product
- Maintains and monitors various construction bid portals (e.g. Dodge, Builder's exchange, Etc,)
- Promotes all aspects of the dealership including parts, service, labor, customer service agreements and machine and engine sales leads
- Maintains and updates activities in customer relationship management (CRM) software accurately and efficiently
- Special Projects - Supports power systems marketing team (e.g. sales campaigns & customer events)
