Atkins seeks an energetic and highly motivated Civil Engineer to join our West Coast team as a Roadway Engineer working in our California, Nevada or Colorado offices. Under supervision, this engineer performs routine engineering work while developing professional proficiency. On design assignments, you will learn how to clearly convey the design intent through engineering drawings and specifications. On investigations and planning, you will learn the fundamentals of engineering processes and to apply them successfully to operating systems. On construction activities, you will develop an understanding of construction methods and the translation of engineering drawings and specifications into the constructed product.

How will you contribute to the team?

• Applies standard engineering practices and techniques in specific situations.

• Assists in the planning, design, and production of engineering drawings. May supervise the production of these drawings. Carries out specific assignments in preparing and assembling specifications.

• Participates in conducting engineering investigations and planning work by completing well-defined tasks. These tasks may include collection and analysis of data using established procedures, performance of routine calculations, and participation in evaluating the feasibility of alternate solutions.

• Prepares assigned sections of reports working under the close review of a more experienced professional.

• Participates on projects involving construction activities by reviewing shop drawings for conformance with easily interpreted specifications; assists in recordkeeping and in generating progress reports; observes relatively simple construction procedures and collect samples for quality control testing.

What will you contribute?

• B.S. (or higher) in Civil Engineering

• EIT required

• CAD and design software proficiency required

• MicroStation, OpenRoads, and/or GEOPAK experience is a plus

• Internship, Co-op, or other experience in Roadway Design and/or Construction is a plus

• Proven technical writing and communication skills

Salary is $73K - $103K Annual depending on experience and location
