Overview
As a MS Music Teacher, you will create and implement a flexible program and classroom environment favorable to student learning and personal growth. Develop lesson plans consistent with established guidelines, establish rapport with students, staff, and parents, and motivate students to develop skills, attitudes, and knowledge for a strong educational foundation.
Responsibilities
- Plans and implements a program of instruction that adheres to CSUSA philosophy, goals, and objectives as outlined in the adopted courses of study.
- Develops purposeful and appropriate lesson plans with effective teaching strategies and maximized time on task.
- Presents subject matter to students with real-world, application-based examples and learning opportunities.
- Reviews student records to understand each student’s abilities and needs; maintains accurate and complete student records.
- Strives to maximize the educational achievement of each student.
- Utilizes a variety of learning modalities and differentiates instruction within lessons.
- Uses diagnostic assessment of student learning on a frequent basis.
- Assesses student strengths and weaknesses regularly and generates progress reports as required.
- References students with suspected learning problems to appropriate support personnel.
- Assigns lessons, corrects student work, and reviews oral presentations.
- Coordinates class field trips (as required) and prepares students for state-required achievement assessments.
- Keeps current in subject matter knowledge and learning theory; shares knowledge for curriculum improvement.
- Assists in ongoing curriculum revision and selection of books, equipment, and instructional materials.
- Becomes acquainted with supplemental services beneficial to students as extensions of classroom activities.
Classroom Environment
Creates a classroom environment conducive to learning, appropriate to students’ maturity and interests.Maintains positive rapport with students and demonstrates patience and nurturing to support growth.Ensures classroom is clean, safe, and displays student work as appropriate.Implements relevant policies governing student conduct.Develops reasonable rules of classroom / playground behavior in accordance with CSUSA policy and maintains order in a fair and consistent manner.Instructional Planning
Develops lesson plans aligned with established guidelines and goals.Plans individual and group learning activities to meet instructional objectives and student needs.Prepares for classes and demonstrates evidence of preparation upon request.Participates with other staff in curriculum planning and incorporates diagnostic information from IEPs where required.Protects supplies, equipment, materials, and facilities used to implement the instructional program.School / Community Relations
Establishes cooperative relations and communicates with parents / guardians when appropriate.Communicates clearly and positively with parents via appropriate channels.Cooperates with administration, staff, and CSUSA; maintains confidentiality regarding student records.Participates in parent communication activities and extracurricular activities to support school culture.Required Qualifications and Skills
Demonstrates enthusiasm and commitment to the position and CSUSA values in academic excellence, operational performance, culture, and growth.Strong time management and organizational skills; ability to prioritize effectively.Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with teachers, students, parents, community, and staff; sensitivity to corporate needs and public image.Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (oral, written, interpersonal, negotiating, and influencing).Reliable attendance, punctuality, and responsiveness to management direction.Proficient experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Student Information System (SIS), and email.Commitment to quality, accuracy, thoroughness, and best practices in character education.Ability to implement positive character education consistently.Job Requirements
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university or equivalent.Valid teaching certification as appropriate.Minimum of one to three years of successful teaching experience (may include student teaching internship).Equivalent combination of education and experience.Knowledge of subject content and learning theory, including motivation, reinforcement, evaluation, and feedback techniques.Understanding of CSUSA values and successful results of criminal and employment background checks.Effective instructional delivery techniques and excellent communication skills.Adherence to the Code of Ethics for the Education Profession.May perform other duties as assigned.Work Environment
Usual school working conditions with possible high noise levels during peak student activity.
Physical Demands
Light work; may require lifting up to 20 pounds occasionally and up to 10 pounds as needed; may involve somewhat stressful periods due to frequent student activity.
