American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) position requiring active OR licensure, strong telemetry experience, and night shift availability.
\n \n Responsibilities\n
Work in a 30-bed neurotrauma-focused PCU within a short-term acute care, Level II Trauma, teaching hospitalPatient population includes acute neurotrauma cases such as multiple sclerosis, Parkinson’s disease, brain tumors, traumatic brain injuries, meningitis, encephalitis, strokes, and spinal injuriesNurse-to-patient ratios are 1 : 3-4; CNA ratios range from 1 : 6-13 on days and 1 : 10-13 on nightsRequired to work night shifts (3x12 hours, 19 : 00 – 07 : 30) with every other weekend requirementTravelers may float within the hospital or to an affiliated nearby hospital as neededEpic EMR is used and proficiency is requiredContribute to a Joint Commission Primary Stroke Center and Spine Center of Excellence, working closely with a Stroke NavigatorParticipate in specialized neurotrauma care utilizing NIHSS, swallow screening, and spine immobilization protocolsRoyal blue scrubs are requiredFormer permanent employees must have a six-month gap post-employment before being eligible as a travelerRTO must be finalized and submitted at the time of application; additional requests may result in contract cancellationModules must be completed pre-start and annually as assignedNo radius restrictions; local candidates are accepted at the same rateFree parking available on site\n \n Requirements\n
Active OR RN license is required for consideration (pending accepted at submission if emergency licensure is available)Current BLS through AHA requiredMinimum 1 year of experience within the last 3 years in MS / Tele / PCU; neuro stepdown and NIHSS certification preferredDemonstrated experience with telemetry, cardiac rhythm interpretation, cardiac drips (nitro, Cardizem, amiodarone, Nicardipine, IMCU drips), non-invasive airway management, and rapid responseEpic charting experience is a strict requirementNo first-time travelers acceptedCOVID vaccination required with no exemptionsExperience with isolation precautions / PPE, O2 protocols, peripheral line care, and management of dysrhythmias required\n Benefits\n
