Position Overview
The North Carolina Medical Society (NCMS) is seeking a Manager, Professional Growth to support the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of physician leadership and development programs.
This role functions as a program manager and is responsible for executing a wide range of initiatives that support professional and leadership growth for healthcare professionals across North Carolina.
Working in close partnership with internal staff and external stakeholders, the Manager coordinates curriculum development, event logistics, performance evaluation, and budget oversight. The role also involves conducting research and gathering feedback to assess program effectiveness and support future direction. A understanding of adult learning, healthcare leadership trends, and stakeholder relationship-building is essential.
This is a hybrid role based in Raleigh, NC. Some evening and weekend commitments are required based on event schedules.
Key Responsibilities
Program Oversight & Coordination
- Manage logistics and execution of all KIPL programs and services.
- Coordinate with stakeholders, subject matter experts, faculty, and internal departments to ensure seamless program delivery.
- Maintain program documentation, participant communications, and SharePoint records.
- Provide strategic input on program direction, content development, and alignment with organizational goals.
Curriculum Development & Evaluation
Support the development and continuous improvement of curriculum based on adult learning principles.Conduct needs assessments, skills gap analyses, and post-program evaluations.Track and report on participant feedback and emerging trends in leadership development.Budgeting & Reporting
Create and manage budgets for KIPL programs; monitor expenditures and report to the Vice President.Develop internal reports on program utilization, outcomes, and satisfaction metrics.Communications & Outreach
Collaborate with marketing and communications staff or vendors to promote programs and disseminate key updates.Maintain positive relationships with external partners including academic institutions, medical practices, and healthcare organizations.Participate in NCMS membership engagement, recruitment, and retention efforts.Collaboration & Strategic Support
Work cross-functionally with internal departments to identify shared goals and collaborative opportunities.Provide input on broader Professional Growth initiatives and assist in achieving departmental strategies.Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree required.Demonstrated experience in program management, professional development, or adult education—preferably within a healthcare or nonprofit setting.Understanding of adult learning theory, curriculum development, and training assessment strategies.Experience managing subject matter experts and collaborating with external partners.Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.Ability to manage multiple projects, meet deadlines, and anticipate program needs.High level of professionalism and discretion in working with leadership audiences.Comfort with presenting to groups and facilitating collaborative sessions.Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.Microsoft 365 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook); familiarity with SharePoint preferred.Physical Demands : Regularly
