Terry Peak Snowmaker Position

Terry Peak Ski Area in the Black Hills of South Dakota is looking for an experienced snowmaker. The snowmaking crew must have strong communication skills, be able to follow directions, and work in inclement weather conditions. Duties include monitoring the snowmaking process, maintaining snowmaking equipment while following the supervisor's direction and standard operation practices and safety requirements. Troubleshoot potential problems with the system and make a plan for off-season maintenance and repair. Accountable for all aspects of the snowmaking department, including staffing, preventative maintenance, and repairs of the system. Accountable for the continuous monitoring and efficient operation of the snowmaking system process and control system during the season. Direct and manage the snowmaking staff to make snow and to ensure the safety of the crew when doing so. Prepare and troubleshoot potential problems with the system during the season and provide a plan for underground maintenance during the off season.

Essential duties and responsibilities include :

• One or more years of experience in snowmaking operations.
• Operate all Terry Peak equipment safely.
• Operate and monitor pump and compressor systems.
• Monitor the ongoing snowmaking process control system to obtain the most efficient and productive results.
• Maintain thorough documentation records.
• Communicate with the various crew members with respect to available resources (air and water) to maintain production goals.
• Make snow according to all standard operating practices and safety standards as instructed and or outlined in the manuals set forth by the Snowmaking Supervisor.
• Offer continual training and assistance on the standard operational and safety practices.
• Operate all transportation vehicles as per the standard operating procedures.
• Assist in effective communication with the other departments when required.
• Minimal experience with snow grooming is a plus.
• Other duties as assigned.

Basic requirements :

High School or equivalent is preferred.
