GENERAL PURPOSE :
The Security Awareness Specialist plays a crucial role in maintaining an environment that is safe and secure for both Associates and Customers. Your visible presence at store entrances and on the sales floor will deter theft and fraud while providing exemplary customer service. In this role, you will greet every customer warmly, uphold company policies, and collaborate with Store Leadership to minimize operational losses. Your commitment to our values will help protect the Ross shopping experience.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS :
Creating a Safe Environment :
Safety is our highest priority. Practice safe behaviors and assist Store Leadership in ensuring a secure environment for everyone.Maintain visible engagement with customers, greeting them at entrances and throughout the store, while also monitoring for safety concerns.Ensure clear access to emergency exits and address any potential safety hazards.Building Strong Relationships :
Deliver exceptional customer service by welcoming customers, answering their questions, and ensuring a positive shopping experience.Treat all Customers and Associates with dignity and respect.Demonstrate professionalism and actively recognize team contributions.Engage with internal and external partners, participating in meetings and educational initiatives.Support Loss Prevention efforts with additional tasks as assigned.Brand Representation :
Actively represent the company brand in all interactions.Adhere to the Company dress code to maintain a professional appearance.Loss Prevention :
Monitor for theft and suspicious activities on the sales floor and at entrances / exits.Communicate theft trends and concerns with Store and Loss Prevention leadership.Follow company policies for addressing theft incidents.Utilize best practices to enhance productivity while reducing losses.Reducing Operational Shortage :
Enhance awareness of processes designed to minimize losses.Observe and validate compliance with checkout procedures.QUALIFICATIONS AND SPECIAL SKILLS :
High School diploma or equivalent required; AA degree preferred.One year of experience in retail supervision or related training is preferred.Experience in loss prevention or security training is a plus.Active Security Guard License is preferred.Ability to thrive in a fast-paced retail environment.Strong communication and relationship-building skills.Excellent customer service and conflict resolution capabilities.Compliance with all applicable laws and regulations regarding security roles, including background checks and possible drug testing.PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS :
Reliable attendance and punctuality.Ability to spend the majority of your work hours standing, walking, and moving around the store.Capability to lift and lower objects weighing over 25 lbs.Frequent bending, stooping, or crouching as needed.Possible additional qualifications may be required for specific assignments.SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES :

The base pay range for this position is $17.40 - $17.90 per hour, subject to factors such as experience and location, among others. This range is one part of the total compensation package.
