Instructional Designer / Facilitator (3-6 month contract role) MOSS Building & Design | Chantilly, VA MOSS Building & Design, an award-winning home remodeling company based in Northern Virginia, is seeking a creative, detail-oriented Instructional Designer / Facilitator to develop and deliver engaging, effective learning experiences that align with organizational goals.
This role blends instructional design expertise with facilitation skills to create and implement training that drives measurable performance improvement.
The ideal candidate will partner with subject matter experts, stakeholders, and cross-functional teams to design, develop, and deliver learning solutions across multiple modalities—including eLearning, instructor-led training, blended learning, and performance support tools.
This role will support learning experiences that span onboarding, functional new hire, career pathing, continuous education, and leadership development.
This is an in office based role at our Design Center in Northern VA with some remote work possible after 90 days of employment.
Key Responsibilities Learning Needs Analysis Collaborate with stakeholders to assess learning needs, define performance objectives, and align training strategies with business goals.
Instructional Design & Development Create course outlines, storyboards, scripts, and design documents grounded in adult learning principles and instructional design models (ADDIE, SAM, etc.).
Content Creation Develop high-quality learning materials, including eLearning modules, job aids, facilitator guides, and multimedia assets, using authoring tools and graphic design best practices.
Delivery & Facilitation Facilitate instructor-led training sessions (in-person and virtual), workshops, and blended learning programs.
Apply facilitation best practices to create interactive, learner-centered environments that enhance engagement and knowledge transfer.
Coach leaders and subject matter experts on facilitation techniques when co-delivering training.
Learning Technology Utilization Leverage Learning Management Systems (LMS) and authoring tools to deliver and track training programs.
Quality Assurance Conduct content reviews, usability testing, and continuous improvement based on learner feedback and performance data.
Collaboration Work closely with subject matter experts, trainers, and project teams to ensure accuracy, clarity, and instructional effectiveness.
Measurement & Evaluation Apply learning analytics and Kirkpatrick / Phillips models to measure training effectiveness and recommend improvements.
