The City of Northglenn is seeking a highly qualified, energetic and organized individual to fill the position of Recreation Manager. This includes the program areas of aquatics, sports, fitness, special interest, youth & teens, and children's programs.
The position is responsible for providing leadership and overseeing the core programs, functions and facilities in the Active Recreation division. Must be able to work successfully in a team-oriented, self-directed atmosphere that provides community members and employees with accurate information and exceptional customer service, and high quality programs.
Manages all Active Recreation division functions, programs, services and facilities to provide the community with the highest level of service possible. Responsible for coordinating and overseeing the daily maintenance, scheduling and use of associated recreation facilities (indoor and outdoor, including swimming pools, gymnasium, fitness studios, and classrooms).
Performs supervisory duties including instructing, assigning and reviewing work, planning, maintaining standards, coordinating activities, allocating personnel and acting on employee performance concerns.
Evaluates and analyzes all recreation programs and services for responsiveness to community needs, opportunities, trends, quality & efficiency; evaluates existing staffing levels and needs based on program growth and identified level of service goals.
Utilizes the city's Strategic Plan, as well as Playbook, the department's long-range plan, as tools to help ensure that programming and services are accessible and meet the needs of community members of all ages and abilities.
May be responsible for compliance with all liquor laws associated with the Hotel and Restaurant License, Optional Premises Permit, Special Private Event Permit and / or Special Private Occasion Permit.
Produces and manages a marketing plan for the Active Recreation division, implements that plan in collaboration with the Communications Department and the Recreation Manager for Culture & Community.
Employs conflict resolution skills while assisting with the overall operations of the department while using creative, innovative and flexible solutions to problems.
Collaborates with the Communications Department and the city's Special Events Division for city-wide events.
Works closely with the Director of Parks, Recreation & Culture to establish policies and procedures pertaining to program and facility operations and safety.
Ensures that policies and procedures are equitable and are consistently communicated and applied.
Is actively involved in the development and / or implementation of division, department and organizational strategic plans and other long-range planning efforts.
Utilizes these plans to assist in the development of a 5-year capital and operational budget plan.
Works collaboratively with the Parks & Recreation Project Manager and / or design and construction professionals to complete projects related to new facilities and / or maintenance or renovations to existing facilities.
Builds partnerships with local clubs, non-profits, committees, businesses or other organizations to meet the needs of the community.
Researches, considers and applies for grant opportunities that may be beneficial to the Active Recreation Division.
Acts as City staff representative for certain foundations and commissions.
Demonstrates and models the city values of Accountability, Customer Service Excellence, Inclusivity, Integrity, Joy and Respect at all times.
Requirements : Graduation from an accredited four year college or university with a Bachelor's Degree in recreation administrations or a related field; and five years of progressively responsible supervisory experience in community recreation.
Certified Parks and Recreation Professional (CPRP), Certified Parks and Recreation Executive (CPRE) or related professional certification or qualifications to obtain certification within two years of hire preferred.
Must possess at time of appointment, and maintain, a valid Colorado motor vehicle operator's license and a good driving record.
Selected candidate must pass a background, drug screen and physical.
Hiring Range : $103,442 - $120,000 DOQ
