Job Description American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Pediatrics position working across both general pediatrics and PICU units with BLS, PALS, and NIHSS certifications required.

Responsibilities Work in a 15-bed Pediatric Unit and a 5-bed PICU within a hospital setting

Serve patients ages 0-18 with occasional stable adult overflow

Care for medical, surgical, psychiatric, and trauma cases, as well as advanced and critical care pediatrics

General Pediatrics RN ratio is 1 : 5, Advanced Care Pediatrics RN ratio is 1 : 1-2

Required to float to NICU for feeder / grower assignments at a 1 : 3 ratio

12-hour variable shifts with weekend rotation every other weekend

May be placed on low census / on-call status

Uses Epic for charting and Omnicell for medication management

Navy scrubs required

Perform assessments, administer medications, and educate pediatric patients and their families

RN and nurse aids perform their own lab draws and IV starts (ultrasound available for difficult IVs)

Support team includes CNA, floating charge nurse, nurse clinician, case management, social work, respiratory therapy, hospitalist and pediatric APP support

One-day facility orientation (online and in-person), plus two-day unit orientation with preceptor

All holidays coverage is expected

Only pre-approved time off is allowed

Requirements Active RN license through the South Dakota Board of Nursing or Compact license

BLS, PALS, and NIHSS certifications required

Completion of an approved nursing education program

Minimum 1.5 years of general nursing experience required

First-time travelers accepted only with more than 2 years of experience

Proficient in Epic charting system

Experience with physical assessment across the lifespan and care for mechanically ventilated patients required

Ability to titrate drips in a PICU environment

Must reside outside a 100-mile radius from the facility
