The 365-bed facility is one of the largest free-standing psychiatric hospital s in the United States . We are located on a serene 37-acre campus in northeast Shelby County, serving as the setting for the treatment for children, adolescents, young adults, adults and seniors. Lakeside's comprehensive programs treat disorders such as bipolar disorder, psychological trauma, depression and anxiety, mental illness and addictive disease disorders such as alcoholism, drug addiction and substance abuse.

JOB SUMMARY :

The Advanced Practice Nurse is responsible for providing primary healthcare to patients and families, focusing on health maintenance, disease prevention, patient education and counseling. The Advance Practice Nurse works under direct supervision of a physician following established guidelines as required and within established scope of practice.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS :

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to demonstrate competency in the criteria listed in this job description. The specifications listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and ability to meet the minimum requirements for this position. Staff must demonstrate flexibility for reassignment to units providing care to varied populations including male and female adults and dually diagnosed patients.

Education : Master's degree graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner program required.

Experience : One-year prior psychiatric experience in mental health nursing preferred.

Licensure / Certification : Licensure and registration by the Tennessee Board of Nursing as an Advanced Practice Nurse.

Knowledge : Knowledge of general and psychiatric nursing processes, therapeutic relationships and processes, age specific growth and development, limit setting, crisis and behavior management and CPR training preferred.

Supervision Received : Medical Doctor

Supervision Exercised : N / A
