Join our team at Knoxville Pet Emergency Clinic as a full-time compassionate and enthusiastic Veterinary Assistant. In this role, you will play a vital part in supporting our veterinary team in providing exceptional care to our animal patients and ensuring a positive experience for our clients. Your responsibilities will include assisting with animal handling, maintaining cleanliness in the hospital, preparing exam rooms, and providing assistance during medical procedures.

About Our Clinic : Knoxville Pet Emergency Clinic is an overnight and weekend emergency clinic offering the gold standard in medical and surgical care. We take pride in being the place where people bring their pets when other practices are closed, and we strive to provide high-quality emergency veterinary care for cats and dogs in the greater Knoxville area. Our diagnostic equipment includes an in-house laboratory, digital radiography, and ultrasound. Most importantly, we have phenomenal, experienced support staff who are crucial to the success of patient and client care. Our doctors perform a variety of routine and advanced soft tissue surgeries. Our practice is open Monday to Thursday 7pm to 7am. On Fridays we open at 7pm and remain open 24 hours throughout the weekend until Monday at 7am.

Key Responsibilities :

• Assist veterinary technicians and veterinarians with various tasks, including animal restraint, medication administration, and sample collection.
• Maintain a clean and organized clinic / hospital environment by disinfecting surfaces, sanitizing equipment, and cleaning kennels and cages.
• Prepare examination rooms for appointments, ensuring they are well-stocked and organized.
• Greet and assist clients, helping them feel welcome and comfortable during their visit.
• Escort clients and their pets to exam rooms and obtain preliminary information, such as medical history and reason for the visit.
• Provide support during medical procedures, including setting up equipment, holding animals, and monitoring their well-being.
• Prepare and label laboratory samples accurately, following proper protocols.
• Assist with radiography (X-rays) by positioning animals and operating equipment under the direction of the veterinary team.
• Help educate clients on topics such as medication administration, preventive care, and post-operative instructions.
• Keep accurate and detailed records of patient care, treatments, and interactions.
• Assist with inventory management, restocking supplies, and maintaining an organized storage area.
• Participate in maintaining a positive and collaborative team atmosphere.
