The technical project manager (TPM) role is multifaceted based on the business needs. The TPM should be trained in all specialty analytical testing procedures, facilitating and communicating with the scientific team to design experiments to fulfill customer goals and objectives. The role is expected to be client-facing, including discovery, planning, and discussions / consultations following release of results. The TPM may also quote, coordinate projects involving other ESFA and Eurofins site on a case by case basis. The TPM will manage internal ESFA projects involving client services and customer onboarding as needed for both maintenance and continued improvements purposes appointed by the business unit manager. The TPM will design and / or develop project quotations and protocols for experiments. The TPM should understand operations of major instruments, shadow or at times assist other chemists / scientists, draft reports, interpret data, write reports but also peer review other data and / or reports especially for challenging, non-routine investigations, custom method development, method validation, unknown / material identification, failure analysis, simple deformulations, more complex product stability studies, structural elucidations, select legal or insurance case support and select product testing / development work. The TPM will be allowed to quote and work on legal and insurance projects pending additional training with business unit manager and / or business cluster president. Essential duties and responsibilities include : performing analytical testing at the level of scientist I or greater with appropriate training in order to fully understand ESFA depth of capability. Draft and issue custom project quotes working closely with business unit manager (BUM) and / or scientists, group leaders at all ESFA locations to address specific client requirements and with suitable scientific approaches, timing, pricing and clear project, program or study deliverables. Assist with resetting client expectations and / or lab approach when the project goes astray. Manage appointed internal ESFA project work on department improvements related to client service management of both current and new clients across all ESFA sites (Eurofins SF Analytical (New Berlin, WI), Craft Technologies (Wilson, NC), GMP Microbiology in Horsham, PA, Animal Health in Indiana, possibly future).
