Purpose of Role

The History and Political Science Department at Daemen University is seeking a qualified adjunct instructor for an introductory course in World History. The selected candidate will be responsible for teaching HST 106 (Introduction to World History II : From 1500), with oversight by the Chair of the History and Political Science Department to ensure compliance with departmental, curricular, and institutional requirements.

The candidate will be responsible for teaching Intro to World History II, the second of a two-course sequence in World History. The two-course world history sequence focuses on the peoples, forces and ideas that have shaped the way individuals have experienced (and still do experience) the world. The course's perspective is global and focuses on the origins and development, geographical context, and interactions of world cultures. In this course, we will focus on two key themes of modern world history : 1) the ways in which global connections have developed; and 2) the ways in which different peoples at different times have resisted globalization, instead seeking to preserve their distinct cultural traditions.

$2800 per semester

Required Qualifications

MA in History or closely related field

Preferred Qualifications

Previous teaching experience in higher education
