Senior Assurance Associate

Responsibilities :
Lead Assurance Engagements
- Plan, perform, and oversee audits, reviews, and compilations for private entities in industries such as professional services, manufacturing / distribution, hospitality, construction, and nonprofit.
- Execute procedures under U.S. GAAS and AICPA standards, focusing on quality, efficiency, and relevance to client needs.
- Prepare and review financial statements and disclosures under U.S. GAAP or other applicable frameworks (e.g., tax-basis, OCBOA).
- Identify risks, assess internal controls, and provide value-added recommendations.
- Communicate progress, findings, and insights clearly to clients and team members.
Engage in Accounting Consulting & Advisory Projects
Apply your assurance mindset to practical accounting solutions that help clients strengthen financial foundations and decision-making.Support or lead projects such as :Month-end close or fractional controller assignments for select clientsGeneral ledger clean-up and financial statement re-structuringImplementation and documentation of new accounting standards (ASC 606, ASC 842, etc.)Technical accounting research and memo preparationAccounting system conversions and process improvementsCoach, Mentor, and Review
Supervise and review the work of associates and interns during assurance and consulting engagements.Provide clear feedback, guidance, and encouragement to build technical competence and professional judgment.Foster a supportive learning environment rooted in curiosity, collaboration, and continuous improvement.Client Service and Relationship Building
Serve as a primary client contact throughout engagements.Develop an understanding of each client's operations, systems, and objectives.Deliver clear, relevant, and actionable insights that demonstrate value beyond the deliverable.Professional Growth and Firm Contribution
Stay current on GAAP, GAAS, and evolving AICPA guidance.Participate in firm trainings, process development, and service innovation initiatives.Collaborate with leadership to enhance engagement efficiency and client experience.Qualifications :
Education : Bachelor's degree required, preference is accounting.CPA or CPA eligible is strongly preferredExperience : 35 years of progressive public accounting experience with a focus on private company assurance; experience in accounting advisory or outsourced controller services a plus.Proficiency in U.S. GAAP and GAAS, with working knowledge of accounting systems and workflows.Strong project management skills.Communicates clearly and respectfully with clients and colleagues.HOUAC49 #ZR
