Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Patient Care Technician (PCT) to join our team in Edison, NJ. The PCT will assist Registered Nurses in providing high-quality care to patients in a fast-paced, high-volume Emergency Department environment . The ideal candidate will bring proven acute care experience, strong clinical skills, and a reliable, team-oriented work ethic.
Responsibilities
Welcome patients and verify identification bracelets.Prepare patients for admission, assessment, and procedures.Perform phlebotomy (IV and capillary blood draws) using aseptic technique.Conduct EKGs as directed.Assist with transport, patient meals, hygiene, toileting, and comfort care.Monitor and document vital signs, weights, glucose finger sticks, intake, and output.Maintain equipment cleanliness and ensure room readiness for admissions.Answer call lights promptly and communicate changes in patient condition to the RN.Assist RN with patient positioning, including respiratory patients (oxygen, trach, and vent support).Provide care tailored to patient needs, considering age, culture, and communication barriers.Requirements
Education :
High School Diploma or GED (required)Completion of a Patient Care Technician Program (required)Certifications & Licensure :
BLS (American Heart Association) – requiredEKG Certificate – requiredPhlebotomy Certificate – requiredExperience :
Minimum 1 year of recent PCT experience in an acute care facility (Emergency Department experience preferred)Experience with phlebotomy, EKG, vitals, blood glucose monitoring, and patient hygiene supportPrior Epic experience preferred (training provided if not)Schedule & Commitment
