Description :

The Ultrasound Technologist performs ultrasound procedures under the general supervision of a Radiologist or physician.

Procedures are conducted in an ambulatory and / or hospital environment as requested for the diagnosis of disease and injury.

High-quality ultrasound procedures are performed according to established protocols and in a timely manner.

Production and quality of imaging procedures are maintained by following established standards and procedures.

AIDET is utilized when communicating with patients to identify service requirements and establish rapport.

Patients and their families are instructed and informed about the tests to be performed.

The Technologist assesses each patient's ability to tolerate the exam.

Patient preparation includes positioning and adjusting equipment controls to set exposure factors as necessary.

Safety requirements, infection-control protocols, and techniques are adhered to protect patients and team members.

Proper sterile techniques are employed for invasive multimodality procedures while maintaining hand hygiene.

Equipment and work areas are maintained to meet quality and cleanliness standards.

Collaboration with engineers and physicists ensures optimal operational capability of equipment.

Issues are reported to management or the appropriate department promptly.

Maintenance of supplies inventory is part of the responsibilities.

Individuals entering the department are screened according to approved policies and procedures.

Relevant documentation such as requisitions, patient history, and consent forms is obtained and verified.

Imaging team members are expected to adhere to policies, procedures, and system workflows including PACS and EMR.

Medical imaging records are maintained in the appropriate system in a timely manner according to departmental standards.

Key success factors include the ability to perform high-quality procedures efficiently and to explain procedures to patients.

Customer satisfaction is ensured by limiting wait times and providing professional service.

The Technologist maintains current knowledge and skills appropriate for care across all age groups.

Training is provided to new team members and on new services and initiatives.

Willingness to take call, if required, is expected.
