This Licensed Court-Ordered Services Counselor position is responsible to provide treatment that promotes client dignity, independence, individuality, strengths, privacy and choice while respecting cultural differences and demonstrating ethical behaviors.
The DUI / DV instructor educates clients about the signs and symptoms of their behavioral disorders, teaches them strategies for controlling their impulses and improving their judgment, and trains them in how to prevent a recurrence or relapse with their behavioral problem.
To meet the needs of our clients with DUI charges, domestic violence charges, and other court-ordered service needs.
Qualifications :
- Must have a LISAC, LASAC or LSAT
- Knowledge and understanding of DUI / DV Impulse Control Disorders
- Thorough understanding of group dynamics and group process
- Excellent therapeutic and personal boundaries and ethics
- Ability to perform crisis intervention
- Excellent teaching skills
- Bilingual in English / Spanish preferred
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Flexible, compassionate, and caring personality
- Has the ability to set appropriate limits with clients when necessary
Duties :
Attend group meetings weeklyModel appropriate communication and leadership skillsTo promote a healthy lifestyle and teach healthy habits to the clientsAdhere to a consensus model, where every member has a say in the structure of the groupMaintain confidentiality and respect the individual needs of group membersDirect the group back to the training materials when necessary. Encourage members to use it as their “guide” to healthy communication and growthLimit self-disclosure to information that is of clear benefit to group membersHave a clear reason before making any contribution or interjection during the meetingAddress a crisis both within the group and individually while maintaining appropriate boundariesDirect members to the PHCC office for referrals to individual therapists when necessaryMaintain contact with the Director regarding the status of the group, including change in meeting dates or times, cancelled meetings, group size, and any other issues or questions regarding the groupNotify the PHCC office and all group members no less than 24 hours in advance if group is cancelled, except in cases of sudden inclement weatherConduct orientation and complete an intake for new membersComplete monthly reports for the courtsEnsure that each group member signs in on the Group sign-in Sheet for each weekProgram Outreach is required to maintain continuous stream of clientsParticipates in general office cleaning duties as requiredOther duties assigned by supervisorResponsibilities :
Complete all necessary paperwork (monthly reports, progress notes, time sheets, orientation paperwork, and intake paperwork). Progress notes and documentation are due within 24 hours of the date of service or next business day.Collect group and class fees if requiredReceive clinical oversight from clinical director or licensed behavioral health professional supervisory staffParticipate in trainings at PHCC main office.
