Location : Santa Fe Indian Health Center & Satellite Clinics, NM
Schedule : Monday–Friday, 8 : 00 AM – 4 : 30 PM (No overtime authorized)
Position Overview
The Physical Therapist will function as the primary PT provider in a predominantly outpatient orthopedic setting, with periodic inpatient responsibilities. The PT will independently perform evaluations and implement treatment plans while supervising and co-signing documentation for a Physical Therapy Technician. The ideal candidate will demonstrate cultural sensitivity, professional conduct, strong documentation skills, and the ability to deliver high-quality clinical care in support of Native American patients and their families.
Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive physical therapy evaluations and implement individualized treatment plans
- Serve as the sole PT with support from a PT tech
- Supervise and co-sign PT Tech documentation as required
- Communicate and collaborate with prescribing physicians regarding treatment plans, DME, orthotics, and referrals
- Document care using paper charting and electronic health records systems
- Provide patient, family, and caregiver education on treatment plans and exercises
- Maintain compliance with professional standards, facility policies, and cultural sensitivity practices
- Maintain and support a clean and organized therapy clinic environment
- Participate in mandatory facility orientation and trainings
- Demonstrate professionalism in dress, behavior, and patient interaction
Required Qualifications
Doctorate or Master’s degree in Physical Therapy from an accredited programActive, unrestricted Physical Therapy license in a U.S. jurisdictionCurrent BLS certificationAbility to successfully complete federal background checks and credentialing requirementsImmunization and TB testing as required for healthcare workersExperience delivering outpatient orthopedic physical therapy careStrong communication and documentation skillsPreferred Qualifications
Experience working in Native American or rural healthcare settingsFamiliarity with IHS or government clinical systems and procedures
