Howmet Aerospace has an immediate opening for an Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) Specialist at our Rochester, NY location. This position is a key member of the location’s EHS team and is highly visible position in the plant and Business Unit. Howmet Engines is a world-class producer of aero engine and industrial gas turbine components, including airfoils, rings, disks and forgings. We excel in vacuum melted superalloys, machining, performance coatings and hot isostatic pressing for high performance parts that enable the next generation of quieter, more fuel-efficient aero engines and cleaner power generation.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities :   This is not intended as a comprehensive list; it is intended to provide a representative summary of the major duties and responsibilities.   • Assist with location fatality prevention efforts including helping to lead deployment and execution of key fatality prevention elements and coaching location leaders.
  • Analyze injury and incident data and assist line management in the implementation of focused injury reduction efforts. Provide expertise to proactively address injury reduction efforts.
  • Assist with the facility’s industrial hygiene program including execution of IH sampling plans, the administration of IH databases and employee exposure records, hazardous material management, ergonomics oversight and serve as the radiation protection technical resource.
  • Provide technical expertise and participate in injury / incident investigations to assist in identifying root cause analysis and provide recommendations to prevent recurrence.
  • Coach and counsel departmental leaders in the execution of their EHS accountabilities.
  • Partner with location leadership to deliver EHS objectives.
  • Lead and assist with other EHS accountabilities.
