Join our Team! The Materials Science and Technology Division is seeking a highly motivated, energetic, customer service focused, and experienced administrator to provide professional business and high-level administrative support for a wide variety of generalized office-related activities. You must be an excellent problem-solver, able to anticipate challenges and obstacles and tactfully resolve them while providing administrative support to group and division level management, first line managers, and staff members.
Administrative Assistant 3 ($48,500 - $75,000)
The Materials in Extreme Environments (MATEE) team within the Materials Science in Radiation and Dynamics Extremes (MST-8) group at Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) is seeking an experienced and highly motivated individual.
The selected Administrative Assistant will be responsible for providing an advanced level of support to our team, work with minimal supervision, adapt to changing priorities and deadlines, and show initiative to provide support where needed. This is accomplished with close cooperation, regular communication, and a team approach between all office staff. They will showcase their problem-solving skills and ability to anticipate challenges and obstacles, while resolving professionally and with discretion.
The MATEE team focuses on the development and use of advanced computational mechanics models to predict the effects of extreme and complex environments on both mechanical response and microstructure evolution in materials. The environments considered include high stresses, temperatures, dynamics loading, radiation, etc. The MATEE team adopts both hierarchical and integrated multiscale modeling and characterization strategies for mechanical deformation problems in the Material Science and Technology division. Our team leads several medium to large scale research programs across LANL and the nation. Thus, we have created an opening for an Administrative Assistant to help with program and team management.

Education and Experience : Position requires a High School Diploma and 3 years related experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation.

Work Location : The work location for this position is onsite and located in Los Alamos, NM. All work locations are at the discretion of management.
Position Commitment : Regular appointment employees are required to serve a period of continuous service in their current position in order to be eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory. If an employee has not served the time required, they may only apply for Laboratory jobs with the documented approval of their Division Leader. The position commitment for this position is 1 year.

No Clearance : Position does not require a security clearance. Selected candidates will be subject to drug testing and other pre-employment background checks.
New-Employment Drug Test : The Laboratory requires successful applicants to complete a new-employment drug test and maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing. Although New Mexico and other states have legalized the use of marijuana, use and possession of marijuana remain illegal under federal law.
