The Grounds Maintenance I performs assessments, troubleshooting, repairs, preventive maintenance, and customer service associated with the maintenance of grounds, parks, athletic fields, and irrigation systems. This includes mowing, weed control, turf maintenance, as well as shrub and tree maintenance. This position will also maintain and clean park facilities, courts, structures, fields, trails, and grounds, as well as equipment.

The primary function of this position is to perform routine irrigation system maintenance, inspection, diagnostics, and repair. This includes sprinkler heads, pipe fitting, solenoid valves, gate valves, service tees, and mainline repairs.

Turf maintenance is also required. This includes cultural practices utilizing motorized equipment. Assignments may include preparing and maintaining baseball and softball fields for sports activities; measures, lays out, chalks and paints field lines as necessary. Prepare and maintain baseball and softball fields which includes mound, home plate, pitching mound/ rubber, batter's box, base anchor housings, infield skin work, and bullpens.

Provides customer service, information, direction, and assistance related to services, procedures or issues. Initiate problem resolution. Follow established procedures, monitor work environment, and/or promote safety of assigned facility or area. As well as other duties as assigned.
About You

• High School Diploma or equivalent (G.E.D.).
• Six months previous experience and/or training in grounds maintenance, athletic field maintenance, irrigation system maintenance, equipment operation, and manual labor.
• Any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the knowledge and abilities necessary to perform the work
• Valid Arizona Driver's License

The ideal candidate will have knowledge and skills in the following areas:

• Knowledge of applicable federal, state and local laws, codes, regulations and/or ordinances
• Skill in equipment operation including multi and single deck mowers, utility vehicles, tractors and attachments including aerators, gannons, top dresser, vacuum, rotiller, etc.
• Skill in power tool operation including chainsaw, polesaw, stump grinder, auger, jackhammer, hedge trimmer, etc.
• Skill in cleaning and maintenance of facilities
• Skill in working in a team environment and have customer service skills

This position is an At-Will position and is FLSA Non-Exempt - eligible for overtime compensation.
