VP, Department Of The Interior (DOI) Business Development

AECOM Technical Services, Governments, is looking for a Vice President Department Of Interior (DOI) Business Development who is accountable for leading and mentoring a team of Business Development professionals to strategically identify, evaluate, and secure new DOI business opportunities. The role will focus on fostering and maintaining strong relationships with potential customers, partners, and key stakeholders. The Vice President Business Development will collaborate closely with our regions, business lines and executive leadership to design and execute growth strategies aligning with the organization's strategic goals.

Reports to : Senior Vice President of Federal Civilian Agencies.

This position will offer flexibility for primarily remote work schedules with approximately 20% travel (potentially more if located outside of the Denver, CO area).

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute a DOI business development strategy aligned with the company's goals for revenue, margin and growth.
  • Manages business development activities and captures new business for management, engineering, and / or field projects, to ensure continued company financial health.
  • Identifies new business opportunities through customer and industry contacts.
  • Builds successful business relationships by delivering a value proposition that is attractive to both customers and prospective business partners.
  • Develops, maintains and builds a strong professional network and customer relationships.
  • Coordinates company resources in the pursuit and capture of new DOI work.
  • Develops capture plans for specific targets that address opportunities, preferred approaches, competitive analyses and business fundamentals.
  • Identifies teaming partners, develops teaming agreements and obtains appropriate internal support and approvals.
  • Negotiates teaming agreements, scopes of work, contract types and business models that are consistent with the company's risk profile and that result in favorable financial outcomes.
  • Manages and supports proposal activities in winning new DOI contracts for AECOM.
  • Coordinates with regional and business line leaders within operations functions in developing proposals.
  • Responsible for obtaining necessary operational and regional approvals for all proposals prior to their submittal.
  • Communicates and engages company technical experts and operations personnel to develop solutions to customer challenges

Minimum Requirements

  • BA / BS plus at least 12 years of relevant business development experience, or demonstrated equivalency of experience and / or education, including at least 4 years of leadership experience
  • Federal entity business development / client management experience
  • Effective Communication : Demonstrates exceptional verbal and written communication skills to convey ideas clearly and persuasively to diverse audiences.
  • Problem-Solving Expertise : Excels at analyzing complex challenges and developing innovative, actionable solutions to achieve objectives.
  • Advanced Presentation Skills : Skilled in crafting and delivering impactful presentations that effectively communicate value propositions and drive engagement.
  • Strategic Prospect Identification : Proficient in identifying and targeting prospects that align with the organization's strategic goals and adapt to dynamic market conditions.
  • Proven Business Development Success : Consistently achieves measurable success in capturing business opportunities and securing new contracts, contributing to organizational growth.
  • Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree
  • Understanding of the Department of the Interior and its Bureaus strongly preferred
