Advanced Practice Provider with Newborn Panel (Pediatric Nurse Practitioner, Pediatric Physician Assistant) at Central Oregon Pediatric Associates | COPA in Bend, Oregon. This is a part-time (0.5 FTE) role. Schedule : Alternating 2-day and 3-day work weeks.
At COPA, the Advanced Practice Provider plays an integral role serving patients at our pediatric clinic. The APP is a member of the COPA Medical Home care team and is responsible for providing pediatric primary care, consulting with other specialists, and performing administrative duties related to patient care. The APP examines, diagnoses, and treats acute and chronic medical conditions; develops treatment plans; uses evidence-based guidelines; provides compassionate care addressing social determinants of health; and maintains accurate electronic health records with timely documentation.
The role includes the following duties :
- Provide high-quality pediatric primary care with a focus on equity and inclusivity for patients and families from diverse backgrounds.
- Deliver full-spectrum pediatric panel management, including well-child care, chronic disease management, immunizations, screening and follow-up, risk assessment, proactive management, and yearly pediatric quality metrics.
- Engage with diverse families with a welcoming bedside manner to support patient and caregiver interactions.
- Obtain thorough histories across the patient's lifespan from birth through adolescence, and tailor engagement as the patient grows.
- Perform age-appropriate physical examinations to guide workups, diagnoses, and management.
- Use best practice guidelines to monitor developmental, physical, and behavioral health milestones with appropriate interventions and follow-up.
- Reach informed diagnoses using scientific knowledge and medical history, consulting supervising physicians as needed.
- Prescribe medications and provide detailed administration instructions per state law and practice guidelines.
- Order and interpret relevant lab tests, communicate results and follow-up plans to families / patients.
- Follow up with patients and caregivers to monitor progress and treatment adherence.
- Educate and counsel patients and caregivers on pediatric anticipatory guidance topics (nutrition, diet, fitness, safety, sleep, disease prevention, etc.) per American Academy of Pediatrics guidelines.
- Collaborate with Care Coordinators and Community Health Workers to recommend community resources.
- Maintain and review patient records and documentation clearly and concisely.
- Coordinate with APPs and MDs to rotate evening and weekend access for patients.
- Primary location of shifts in Redmond, with rotation through East Bend as needed for patient access.
- Stay current with advancements in pediatric medicine and best practices through continuing education.
- Collaborate with specialists and staff to develop care management strategies for pediatric patients.
- Provide up-to-date newborn care starting immediately after hospital discharge, including well care and sick care.
Qualifications
Education and Certification :
Successful completion of an approved Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant program with pediatric emphasis and appropriate certification.Unrestricted Oregon licensure as a Nurse Practitioner and / or Physician Assistant by start date.Unrestricted Federal DEA number registered in Oregon.Unrestricted ability to participate in Medicaid or other federal / state health programs.NRP and PALS certification (COPA can facilitate these certifications for those without them).Experience
2+ years of clinical experience in pediatric primary care or pediatric specialty required.Epic EMR experience preferred; proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.Spanish and English bilingual abilities a plus.2+ years of newborn patient care in primary care or newborn nursery.Physical Requirements
Clear and audible speaking voice; ability to hear normal speech in person or by telephone; ability to sit or stand for long periods; frequent keyboard use; occasional lifting up to 50 pounds; vision requirements for monitor use and color perception.Must wear PPE as required.Working Conditions
