Job Summary :
Symbios Health, a leading provider of personalized healthcare on Hilton Head Island, is seeking a compassionate and skilled Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA) to join our Physical Rehabilitation team. At Symbios, we specialize in hands-on, manual care with individualized treatment plans to help patients regain mobility, reduce pain, and return to the activities they love—whether it's lifting grandkids, playing golf, or enjoying the Lowcountry lifestyle. As a PTA, you will work under the direction of our expert Physical Therapists to deliver high-quality, one-on-one care in our state-of-the-art facility, contributing to our mission of treating the whole person, not just the diagnosis.
Key Responsibilities :
- Assist in implementing individualized treatment plans developed by Physical Therapists, focusing on manual therapy, therapeutic exercises, and functional movement.
- Provide direct patient care, including guiding patients through prescribed exercises, applying modalities (e.g., heat, cold, ultrasound), and assisting with mobility training.
- Monitor patient progress, document observations, and report outcomes to the supervising Physical Therapist to adjust treatment plans as needed.
- Educate patients and their families on exercises and techniques to support recovery and prevent re-injury.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized treatment environment, ensuring all equipment is properly sanitized and ready for use.
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, including Physical Therapists, primary care providers, and fitness staff, to support Symbios Health's holistic approach to wellness.
- Participate in patient screenings and assessments as directed, contributing to the development of tailored rehabilitation strategies.
- Uphold Symbios Health's commitment to patient-centered care by fostering a supportive and encouraging atmosphere.
Qualifications :
Associate's degree from an accredited Physical Therapy Assistant program.Current South Carolina PTA license (or eligibility to obtain licensure).Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) preferred.Experience in outpatient orthopedics or manual therapy is a plus, though new graduates with strong clinical training are encouraged to apply.Excellent interpersonal skills with a passion for improving patients' quality of life.Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment while managing multiple patients effectively.Physical ability to assist patients with mobility, lift equipment, and demonstrate exercises (must be able to lift up to 50 lbs).Familiarity with electronic medical records (EMR) systems is an advantage.Preferred Skills :
Certification in lymphedema therapy or interest in pursuing additional training (e.g., through the Academy of Lymphatic Studies) is a bonus, aligning with Symbios Health's comprehensive offerings.Enthusiasm for working with diverse patient populations, from athletes to seniors, in a hands-on setting.Benefits :
