Position Overview
Tague Lumber’s Custom Mill Shop is seeking an experienced Woodworker skilled in operating woodworking machinery, including jointers, planers, and shapers. This role requires precision, craftsmanship, and a thorough understanding of wood movement, tooling, and shop safety.
Key Responsibilities
- Set up and operate jointers, planers, shapers, table saws, and related woodworking machinery.
- Mill rough lumber to finished dimensions with accuracy and consistency.
- Read and interpret shop drawings, templates, and work orders.
- Select appropriate materials based on species, grain, and yield.
- Work collaboratively with the production team to meet deadlines and maintain quality standards.
- Follow all shop safety policies and use proper personal protective equipment.
- Demonstrated experience operating jointers, planers, and shapers in a millwork or cabinet shop environment.
- Knowledge of woodworking fundamentals, including grain direction, feed rates, and knife setups.
- Ability to read and understand technical drawings and cut lists.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing quality work.
- Reliable, self-motivated, and able to work independently or as part of a team.
Physical Requirements
Ability to lift and handle lumber or components up to 50 lbs.Standing and operating machinery for extended periods.Exposure to wood dust, noise, and typical shop environment (PPE provided).Working Conditions
