JOB SUMMARY :

Under general supervision the Bus driver is responsible for safely transporting students to and from school field trips and other school-related activities while maintaining a positive and professional demeanor. Ensure student safety and punctuality and it supports the schools commitment to providing equitable access to education.

SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :

• Operate a school bus on assigned routes and schedules ensuring the safe and timely transportation of students.
• Transport students faculty staff and administrators to and from school-related activities including field trips conferences and airport transfers both within and outside the four-county area.
• Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections to ensure the vehicle is in proper working condition including checks on lights brakes (including air-over-hydraulic systems) fluid levels and tire pressure.
• Report any incidents such as accidents traffic violations or student misconduct to the appropriate personnel promptly.
• Ensure student safety during boarding transit and exiting procedures.
• Maintain accurate records of mileage student counts and any incidents or maintenance issues.
• Adhere to all traffic laws safety regulations and school transportation policies.
• Communicate professionally with students parents and school staff.
• Complete all other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS :

PHYSICAL DEMANDS :

This position requires an ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time walk bend lift reach up stoop squatting and carry items occasionally in excess of seventy-five (75) pounds. It also requires manual dexterity to operate standard office machines such as copier fax calculator telephone and other equipment as necessary. IRSC expects its employees to follow proper safety standards while employed by the College.
