Computer Instrument Technician

Overview

We Energies, a subsidiary of WEC Energy Group, is seeking 4 Computer Instrument Technicians at our Elm Road Generating Station location in Oak Creek WI. This position is represented by We Energies L2150 Union.

Job Summary

Design, install, test, calibrate, tune, repair, maintain, and troubleshoot the process control instrumentation, support related computer-based control, data acquisition equipment, and the various systems utilized for the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of a power plant. Responsibilities also include providing technical support and coordination to plant chemical, maintenance, electric, and operations groups.

Job Responsibilities

• Troubleshooting, testing, calibrating, repairing, installing, tuning, and otherwise maintaining various process control instrumentation devices and systems utilized for the safe, efficient and reliable operation of fossil fueled power plants
• The Computer Instrument Technician provides technical support related to power plant computer-based control and data acquisition equipment, including the development and modification of the computer systems application programs, operator function, graphic displays, documentation and data base parameters
• Resolving day-to-day system problems
• Ensuring system, software, data and backup security; reviewing and monitoring the operating status of equipment
• Aiding engineers with equipment performance calculation programs
• Also assists engineering personnel with special tests and projects and performs other miscellaneous or special duties as required and / or assigned
• Will require the use of a respirator in certain situations

Testing Requirements

Maintenance Selection System (MASS) Technical level : Ability to understand basic mechanical principles, visualize proper assembled form of objects, read and comprehend technical material; and skill in working basic mathematical problems.

Minimum Posting Range : $38.06

Maximum Posting Range : $63.47

The pay range reflects the minimum and maximum for the position at the time of posting and may be modified in the future. The starting salary / pay within the pay range will be based on several factors, as applicable, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, shift, travel requirements, collective bargaining agreements, and business and organizational needs. At WEC Energy Group, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role.
