Description :

This role involves working in a progressive care unit with a focus on cardiac telemetry.

The unit has a total of 15 beds and a staff of 22, including both Registered Nurses and Patient Care Technicians.

On the day shift, there are 3-4 Registered Nurses, 2 Patient Care Technicians, and 1 Clinical Coordinator.

During the night shift, there are 3-4 Registered Nurses and 1 Patient Care Technician.

Patient ratios in this unit are typically 4-5 patients per nurse.

Equipment used includes cardiac telemetry, chest tubes, and various cardiac drips.

Patients may include those who are post-cardiac catheterization, post-surgical patients, and those requiring cardiac monitoring.

Common procedures performed on this unit include post-cardiac catheterization, electrophysiology studies, device placements, and groin management.

Epidurals, chest tube management, and critical drips are also part of the role.

The ideal candidate will possess a strong teamwork ability and effective time management skills.

Candidates should be outgoing and willing to go above and beyond for patients.

Floating may occur to ICU for PCU-type patients and med-surg units.

The dress code includes navy or white scrubs, which can be mixed or matched.

Every other weekend shift or four weekend shifts per schedule is expected.
