Operations Manager

A growing construction equipment supplier serving contractors across the Northeast is seeking a proactive and innovative Operations Manager to lead and optimize daily operations. The company specializes in compact and light construction equipment, offering rentals, sales, parts, and service to clients in industries such as roadwork, utilities, concrete, and excavation. With a boutique approach to customer service, the team is known for personalized support, deep industry knowledge, and long-term client relationships. Position Summary

The Operations Manager will work closely with ownership to drive continuous improvement through technology integration, policy development, and operational efficiency. This hands-on leadership role involves managing people, processes, and equipment to ensure smooth and scalable operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with leadership to implement new technologies and process improvements
  • Help shape company policies and procedures to enhance productivity and workplace culture
  • Oversee the rental fleet, ensuring equipment is properly maintained, tracked, and utilized
  • Manage equipment inventory, including audits and forecasting needs
  • Handle purchase orders and maintain accurate procurement records
  • Source and evaluate vendors for quality, cost-effectiveness, and reliability
  • Lead vendor negotiations and manage ongoing relationships
  • Supervise a team of 35 employees, providing coaching and performance feedback
  • Foster a collaborative and accountable team environment
  • Identify and implement operational improvements
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards and internal policies

Qualifications

Proven experience in operations, logistics, or equipment management (rental industry experience a plus), Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, Excellent organizational and problem-solving abilities, Experience with vendor management and contract negotiation, Proficiency with technology tools and systems, with a focus on identifying and implementing new solutions

Skills & Experience

Service, troubleshooting, field service, mechanical repair, Customer service and service management, Operations management and dispatch coordination, Inventory control, purchase orders, and parts management, Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Experience with construction equipment is a plus

Job Type & Location

This is a Permanent position based out of South Windsor, CT.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $80000.00 - $100000.00 / yr.
