OVERVIEW
To coordinate and monitor the involvement of parents in the education of their children; to serve as a liaison between parents, school and community to promote a welcoming environment; and to provide services to parents and school personnel to facilitate increased student performance.
QUALIFICATIONS
- High School education or equivalent required
- Bilingual in Spanish preferred
- Computer proficiency to include use of basic software applications (Word, Excel, Google Apps, PowerPoint, etc)
- Basic knowledge of current educational academic standards
- Ability to confidently create and present information to adult learners
- Ability to organize, prioritize, take initiative and work independently with minimum supervision
- Ability to effectively communicate (verbal and written) with parents / guardians, district personnel at all levels and outside agencies
- Ability to establish and maintain effective and cooperative working relationships with parents / guardians, district personnel at all levels and outside agencies
- Ability to maintain organized, comprehensive records for reporting purposes
- Ability and willingness to work flexible and evening hours as needed
- Possess and utilize group leadership skills to organize parental involvement activities
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :
Coordinate and facilitate family literacy trainings / classes and promote class participationCollaborate with teachers and Title I Specialist to provide parent education relevant to student learningBuild awareness of parental involvement at national, state and local levels and share their resources with school community;Connect parents to leadership and volunteer opportunitiesServe as a liaison between school personnel, parents / guardians, school community and the Title I and Community Education departmentsServe as a member of Title I Committee / SIAC to help analyze, develop, and implement the School Continuous Improvement PlanAttend district meetings and trainings as requiredCompile and maintain information on the school website with resources and activities affecting parental involvementRegular and on-time attendance requiredPerform other related duties, as assigned, to ensure the efficient and effective functioning of the work unitSupervision
