The Greater Waterbury YMCA is currently seeking a Marketing Director to join our all star team! This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. The Marketing Director at the Greater Waterbury YMCA intentionally fosters a cause-centered culture that is welcoming, genuine, hopeful, nurturing, and determined. The Marketing Director will build the community’s understanding of the Y’s cause and impact through development and implementation of effective marketing and communications strategies, which in turn, encourages new member growth, current member retention, and a broadened philanthropy base.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in related field preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience.
YMCA Team Leader certification preferred.
Previous supervisory experience in customer service preferred.
Excellent personal computer skills and experience with standard business software.
Proficient in Google Analytics and Social Media Publishing. Photoshop, Illustrator and / or InDesign proficiency also preferred.
Strong project management skills are preferred.
Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
Essential Functions
Campaign Management
Develop and implement annual marketing plans aligned with the YMCA’s mission, goals, and strategic priorities.
Create and manage marketing campaigns for membership drives, fundraising events, and program promotions.
Coordinate projects with the Y’s contracted design firm, assign and / or produce and distribute informational updates to members, staff, donors, community stakeholders and participants (newsletter, video communication board, signage, E newsletters, photos, videos, etc.) as needed and according to the organizational marketing plan.
Identify and target key audiences, including members, donors, and community stakeholders.
Conduct market research to understand community needs and trends.
Brand Management
Serve as the custodian of the YMCA brand, maintaining compliance with national YMCA guidelines, ensuring consistency in branding, messaging, and visual identity across all communications and channels.
Work with the Y’s contracted design firm to maintain and update website via a content management system and other online media / marketing vehicles and social media.
Produce and / or coordinate the production of the session program guide, internal signage, campaign collateral, posters and promotional flyers / materials.
Fundraising Support
Partner with the development team to execute and market fundraising campaigns and donor recognition communications and events.
Create materials and messaging to support annual giving, sponsorships, and special events.
Participates and supports the Ys Community Support Campaign and United Way Annual Campaign.
Partnership Development and Community Engagement
Work with businesses and other non-profits to co-market initiatives.
Leverage partnerships to increase visibility and support.
Organize YMCA events and represent the YMCA at community events to promote the organization.
Promote the non-profit’s causes and initiatives to inspire action.
Collaborate with partners to amplify key advocacy messages.
Track and analyze marketing performance metrics, membership trends, and community engagement.
Media Relations
Develop email marketing strategies to communicate with members and donors.
Oversee digital and traditional advertising, public relations efforts, and social media strategies.
Manage the YMCA’s website and social media platforms, ensuring engaging, up-to-date content.
Establish contacts with media representatives and write and submit press releases when appropriate. Maintain updated files of YMCA’s media relations (both press and electronic).
Act as a media contact for staff for special events and facility programming.
Act as a media contact for members for weather related and facility related announcements including the phone system, website and social media outlets.
Administrative Management
Participate in the planning of the annual budget; manages and implements the approved budget for marketing and takes appropriate action to correct variances.
Hire, train, evaluate and supervise marketing staff, volunteers and interns. Provide development and leadership for them to be successful.
Director on Duty shifts may be assigned as needed.
All other duties assigned by Supervisor.
