Position: RN Behavioral Health Days/Nights

Shift Schedule: 19:00 - 07:30

Location: Reno, NV, 89503

Start date: 01/17/2026 - 07/17/2026

Pay: $90 to $95 per hour depending on experience.

Job Description: RN BHU. Preference given to candidates available for a full schedule through the end of January and the first week of February.
Dayshift/Nightshift, 12-hour shifts.
Start date: 1/17.
Minimum compliance requirements must be met prior to starting;
full compliance profile must be completed within two weeks after the start date.
Position is Per Diem for 26 weeks.
Required Compliance Items:
Active nursing license verification BLS, ACLS, PALS, and NRP certifications as applicable
Proof of MMR and Varicella vaccination or attestation of vaccination/declination


The Behavioral Health Registered Nurse (RN) provides direct patient care to individuals experiencing mental health conditions, emotional disturbances, or behavioral disorders. The RN works as part of a multidisciplinary team to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care to promote mental and emotional well-being.

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct comprehensive mental health assessments, including risk assessments and crisis evaluations.
• Develop and implement individualized nursing care plans.
• Administer medications and monitor for side effects or therapeutic responses.
• Observe and document patient behavior, mood, and progress in treatment.
• Collaborate with psychiatrists, therapists, social workers, and other healthcare providers.
• Educate patients and families about mental health conditions, treatment options, and coping strategies.
• Provide therapeutic communication, de-escalation techniques, and crisis intervention as needed.
• Ensure a safe and secure environment by maintaining awareness of patient behaviors and applying unit safety protocols.
• Participate in treatment planning meetings and contribute nursing input to interdisciplinary team discussions.
• Support patients with activities of daily living when required.
• Comply with all regulatory standards, including HIPAA and Joint Commission requirements.
  
  

Qualifications:

• Education: Graduate of an accredited nursing program. BSN preferred.
• Licensure: Current RN license in the state of practice.
• Certifications: BLS required. CPI or PMAB certification preferred (or required within 30 days of hire).
• Experience:
  • 12 years of nursing experience required;
  • Behavioral Health or Psychiatric Nursing experience strongly preferred.
