The Network Administrator is responsible for maintaining and supporting the company's network infrastructure to ensure reliable performance, security, and efficiency. This role involves planning and implementing network upgrades, troubleshooting connectivity issues, managing system updates and accounts, and supporting hardware and software across the organization.
The Network Administrator collaborates closely with IT team members and departmental managers, assists with phone systems and automation equipment, and provides technical expertise to improve system reliability and efficiency. This position requires strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to respond effectively to emergencies and critical issues.
Essential Functions And Responsibilities
- Collaborate with departmental managers to assess future network needs and plan for system enhancements or changes.
- Design and implement methods, tools, and procedures to test and deploy new LAN / WAN equipment.
- Lead network projects to add functionality, improve efficiency, and address recurring performance issues.
- Perform troubleshooting and resolve network connectivity and performance problems.
- Analyze existing network infrastructure and prepare recommendations for optimization and improvement.
- Install, configure, and support company network infrastructure, including switches, routers, firewalls, and related hardware.
- Maintain and enforce company computer and network standards as directed.
- Manage system updates, patches, and security configurations for all network systems.
- Administer and maintain network accounts, permissions, and access controls.
- Partner with the Systems Administrator on networked device maintenance and special projects.
- Assist IT Specialists on network-related initiatives and implementations.
- Support Help Desk staff by troubleshooting and resolving escalated network issues.
Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve hardware, software or other network and systems problems.
Research emerging technologies and hardware solutions; recommend improvements and purchases.
Provide technical support during emergency situations and critical outages.
Work extended hours as required to meet business needs or resolve issues.
Participate in a month long On-Call rotation.
Responsible for onsite duties as assigned.
Must be punctual and adhere to attendance standards.
Adhere to all company policies and procedures.
Other duties as assigned by management.
Education / Experience
High School Diploma or equivalent is required.Minimum of 3-5 years experience as a Network Technician, Network Administrator or related field is required.Associates degree in Computer Science or related field is required.Bachelor's degree in Networking or related field is highly preferred.Knowledge / Skills / Abilities
Proficient in computer networking, diagnostics, and troubleshooting.Proven leadership and mentoring capabilities.Excellent written, verbal, and listening communication skills.Strong reasoning, logical thinking, and mathematical abilitiesAdept at identifying, diagnosing, and resolving technical issues.Highly organized with strong attention to detail.Demonstrated critical thinking and problem-solving skills under pressure.Experienced in systems analysis and network infrastructure design.Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously with accuracy and efficiency.Effective at collaborating in a team environment.Reliable, ethical, and discreet in handling confidential information.Skilled in PC, laptop, server, and peripheral hardware support.Knowledge of IP phones, firewalls, and network routing.Strong understanding of cybersecurity principles and practices.Licenses / Certifications
Cisco CCNA Certification is highly preferred.A+ Certification is preferred.Network+ Certification or the ability to obtain is required.Must be able to obtain a Permanent Employee Registration Card from the State of Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (Illinois employees only).Maintain a driver's license, maintain an insurable driving record, and be capable of driving on company assignments.Physical Demands

The starting pay range for the Network Administrator is $75,000-$90,000 per year based on knowledge, skills, education, certifications, and experience.
