Description :

This position involves working in a Labor and Delivery unit.

The unit has 12 labor and delivery beds, 8 triage beds, and 11 antepartum beds.

There are 72 staff members on the unit.

Day shift typically consists of 1 charge nurse, 12 RNs, 1-2 techs, and 1 secretary.

Night shift typically consists of 1 charge nurse, 11 RNs, and 1 tech.

Patient ratios are estimated as follows : 1 : 2 in labor and delivery, 1 : 3-4 in triage, and 1 : 4 in antepartum.

Equipment on the unit includes Centricity and GE monitors.

The electronic medical record system used is Meditech.

Procedures performed on the unit include vaginal and cesarean deliveries, D&C, hysterectomy, postpartum tubal ligation, cerclage placement, and versions.

The unit also handles high-risk obstetric patients.

Ideal candidates are team players and flexible.
