Snapshot of Your Day :
Perform a wide variety of welding required to weld the Generator core to frame / bedplate and to weld the Generator to the rail car.
How You’ll Make an Impact :
- Become familiar with all tools and equipment for core assembly.
- Build and assemble complete cores, torque and tension bolts, and hardware per drawings.
- Set up and operate welding equipment to perform GMAW (Pulse Mig). Set up and operate air-arc and manual burning equipment.
- Fabricate single item part pieces and non-permanent part pieces. Become familiar with all tools and equipment for generator core assembly.
- Perform fitting and assembly operations necessary to build and assemble complete cores, torque and tension bolts and hardware per drawings.
- Set up and operate robots, clean and detail cores. Build and assemble pressure plates and process all aspects of manufacturing service generator cores.
What You’ll Bring :
Must be able to pass the following welding qualification tests.GMAW 6G Butt Joint Open Root & 5F Fillet, both to the ISO standard.Must complete standard aptitude tests. SMAW and GTAW certifications are required to make it through the progression steps.High school education or equivalent.Prefer to have a candidate with 4 or more years of industrial-mechanical experience. Proficiency with shop tools – grinders, sanders, drills, ratchets, wrenches, etc., and ability to choose optimal tool for the task. Required to lift / move 50 lb. materials.Ability to use precision measuring equipment. Basic math skills. Ability to read, write, and complete simple forms. Successful applicants must be able to pass hearing, vision, and pulmonary tests. Operator must be able to be fit to wear a respirator. Must be able to obtain fork truck and crane license.
