THE POSITION :

We have an exciting opportunity at our Methuen Animal Care and Adoption Center for an Animal Welfare Specialist . Animal Welfare Specialists (AWS) are at the forefront of the MSPCA' smission, working directly with people and their pets to effect positive change in our community. Some job responsibilities include :

• Working hands-on with several species of animals, including companion, equine and farm animals, feeding, cleaning and disinfecting animal living spaces, providing enrichment activities, exercising, medication administration, etc.
• Facilitating adoptions by matchmaking animals with prospective adopters using a conversation-based approach with a goal of identifying the best possible outcome for the person and the animal.
• Assisting in the surrender of an animal in an empathetic and compassionate manner that is free from judgment.

ABOUT NEVINS FARM :

The MSPCA at Nevins Farm, in Methuen, Massachusetts, is a unique 55-acre animal care complex that provides shelter and adoption services for both farm and companion animals as well as a low cost community clinic and community outreach. In 2024, the MSPCA at Nevins Farm took in a total of 3,035 animals and had a live release rate of 92%. Take a virtual tour!

APPLICANT REQUIREMENTS :

We are looking for applicants with at least one year of experience in a customer service / client care position. Previous work or volunteer experience with animals is a plus! Applicants should also demonstrate excellent judgment and interpersonal skills and be eager to work to support the human-animal bond.
