Senior Product Manager, Search & Recommendations

At Quizlet, our mission is to help every learner achieve their outcomes in the most effective and delightful way. Our $1B+ learning platform serves tens of millions of students every month, including two-thirds of U.S. high schoolers and half of U.S. college students, powering over 2 billion learning interactions monthly. We blend cognitive science with machine learning to personalize and enhance the learning experience for students, professionals, and lifelong learners alike. We're energized by the potential to power more learners through multiple approaches and various tools.

Join us to design and deliver AI-powered learning tools that scale across the world and unlock human potential.

You will be joining a fast-moving and rapidly growing team dedicated to reimagining how students interact with Quizlet and its products. Our primary goal is to encourage users to return more frequently for longer study sessions, ultimately helping them achieve academic success. To meet these objectives, you'll collaborate closely with a cutting-edge engineering team that leverages the latest AI methodologies for Quizlet's search and recommendations system.

Our team is dynamic and agile, designed to quickly adapt to user feedback as we push forward with major product innovations. Together, we are committed to delivering a transformative learning experience for students everywhere.

As a key member of our team, you will design and refine the content system that powers recommendations, search, and engagement across Quizlet. You'll work closely with product managers to ensure the content delivered to users aligns with their specific context, learning goals, and subject mastery. To achieve this, you'll collaborate with machine learning engineers, data scientists, subject matter experts, and data engineers.

We're happy to share that this is an onsite position. To help foster team collaboration, we require that employees be in the office at a minimum of three days a week: Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday and as needed by your manager or the company. We believe that this working environment facilitates increased work efficiency, team partnership, and supports growth as an employee and organization.

In this role, you will:

  • Develop and articulate a data-driven product strategy that ensures Quizlet leverages the latest advancements to support new use cases and serve our students effectively
  • Partner with user research and design teams to conduct user interviews, synthesize insights, and inform the product roadmap. Work with the data science & analytics team to quantify user behavior & product gaps
  • Break down large, ambiguous problem spaces, prioritize them, and focus the team on key hypotheses
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams to define product requirements, prioritize features, and deliver high-quality, impactful study-enhancing features
  • Collaborate with marketing and subscription teams to ensure features reach the right users at the optimal time in their learning journey
  • Advocate for the role of user-centric design and UX in the overall Quizlet product roadmap

What you bring to the table:

  • 5+ years of product management experience with a focus on personalized recommendations & search experiences
  • Proven track record of building and testing delightful user experiences and delivering quantifiable results
  • Enthusiasm for being involved in every step of the product development process, from understanding user needs to analyzing metrics and building roadmaps
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced startup environment with imperfect information and limited resources
  • Excitement about enhancing learning experiences for millions of students worldwide through innovative online study tools

Bonus points if you have:

  • Experience working in EdTech or an educational background in learning science
  • Moderate SQL experience: Able to self-serve on basic analysis and read SQL written by an analyst

Compensation, Benefits & Perks:

  • Quizlet is an equal opportunity employer. We celebrate diversity and are committed to creating an inclusive environment for all employees. Salary transparency helps to mitigate unfair hiring practices when it comes to discrimination and pay gaps. Total compensation for this role is market competitive, including a starting base salary of $155,000 - $195,000, depending on location and experience, as well as company stock options
  • Collaborate with your manager and team to create a healthy work-life balance
  • 20 vacation days (and we expect you to take them!)
  • Competitive health, dental, and vision insurance (100% employee and 75% dependent PPO, HMO, VSP Choice)
  • Employer-sponsored 401k plan with company match
  • Access to LinkedIn Learning and other resources to support professional growth
  • Paid Family Leave, FSA, HSA, Commuter benefits, Wellness benefits
  • 40 hours of annual paid time off to participate in volunteer programs of choice

Massive reach: 60M+ users, 1B+ interactions per week

Cutting-edge tech: Generative AI, adaptive learning, cognitive science
