Skilled Tradesman

The Skilled Tradesman works under general supervision and is responsible for general labor activities. This position is governed by established trade practices and agency / institution policy. This is a 12-month, 40-hour week on-campus position. If not residing in Camden or surrounding area, relocation is required. Essential Functions Statement(s) :

  • Performs and assists with a variety of skilled trade tasks, both as assigned and proactively identified, to maintain and improve facility operations.
  • Builds and repairs wooden structures or their structural parts.
  • Performs a variety of interior and exterior painting tasks.
  • Installs electrical wiring, fixtures, and computer cables.
  • Performs acetylene gas and electrical arc welding on equipment in need of repair.
  • Apply general plumbing knowledge to maintain and repair water and drainage systems, including fixing leaks, replacing fixtures, clearing clogs, and assisting with system inspections. Ensure work meets safety standards and supports the overall functionality of building facilities.
  • Performs bricklaying and other masonry duties.
  • Maintain the internal key control system to ensure accuracy, security, and compliance by :
  • Constant Monitoring and reviewing the system performance.
  • Make recommendations for updates, upgrades, or process improvements to enhance efficiency, security, and functionality.
  • Installation and repair of all door hardware for the SAU Tech campus, AFTA, Uptown Center and AETA.
  • Receive and process as directed request for access to secure locations throughout the SAU Tech system.
  • Performs related responsibilities as required or assigned.

Skills & Abilities :

  • Education : High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED)
  • Experience : One to two years related experience
  • Certificates & Licenses : AR Drivers License
