About the Clinician's Workday

The schedule is Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., with 24-hour weekend call coverage from 7 a.m. to 7 a.m. and weeknight call from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. This is a hospital-based practice with CRNA supervision at a ratio of one physician to three CRNAs. The case mix includes general surgery, endoscopy, vascular, OB, orthopedic, bariatric, and urogynecology procedures, with no hearts, neurosurgery, or thoracic cases. Charting is done in Epic, and the patient population is primarily adult with a low volume of pediatric cases. Credentialing typically takes 2-3 months with an active New York license, though this can be expedited for a quick start. There are seven ORs, and CRNAs are required to perform spinal epidurals. The facility averages 100 deliveries per month, but the epidural rate is low due to a large midwifery program, and the C-section rate is approximately 15%.
