Patient Care Technician Opportunity At UPMC East

UPMC East is hiring a full-time Patient Care Technician for the 5E Oncology unit. This role involves working 36 hours per week across three 12-hour rotating shifts. Responsibilities include : constructively accepting feedback and direction, identifying learning needs and taking action to improve skills and performance, establishing effective communication with other departments, assisting with patient procedures, daily activities, and therapies, reporting equipment malfunctions, contributing to unit activities, and supporting new staff onboarding. Core duties include performing essential nursing assistant tasks such as blood glucose monitoring, vital signs, specimen collection, and more. Safety and documentation are also key components of this role. High school diploma or equivalent is required, along with 1 year of healthcare experience. Successful completion of basic information system training and microcomputer experience is preferred. Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) or Paramedic or currently enrolled in an EMT or Paramedic program is preferred. Access to medications is limited to the distribution of the medication to the nurse.
