Dementia Program Director

Join the Genesis care delivery team as a Dementia Program Director where you will develop and maintain a program that encompasses dementia patients' physical, social, cultural, spiritual, and intellectual needs.
Position highlights :
- Assess each patient and develop programming that maximizes their abilities and provides contentment, enjoyment, and positive self-esteem. Perform ongoing quality improvement evaluations.
- Engage outside resources to complement activity program (e.g., entertainment, intergenerational programming, etc.).
- Directly and indirectly supervise all staff assigned to the Dementia Program unit.
- Communicate regularly with the center leadership team and other appropriate staff concerning Dementia Program functions.
- Responsible for the financial performance of the Dementia Program unit. This includes developing and monitoring the budget.
- Educate families through support groups, family council, and other methods.
- Deliver community dementia education through lectures before groups and organizations within the community.
- Participate in dementia care committees within the community.

Qualifications :
Bachelor degree or higher in therapeutic recreation, music therapy, expressive arts therapy, or occupational therapy preferred with either current certification or qualifications to become certified upon hire. Certification in accordance with regulatory agencies governing the center, by the National Certification Council of Activity Professionals (ADC) or the National Council of Therapeutic Recreation Certification (CTRS) and / or state specific credentials. Five (5) years full-time experience in recreation services for elders or approval by the Nursing Home Administrator, Regional Vice-President of Operations, and National Director of Recreation and Guest Services. Knowledge and experience in providing recreation to individuals within special care units such as memory support, short-stay rehabilitation, ventilator, mental health and recovery, and substance use disorder recovery. Must be knowledgeable in all aspects of developing and managing a quality recreation program that enhances the patient / resident's quality of life and well-being. The role requires superior clinical knowledge of recreation services, leadership abilities, and a deep understanding and support for Genesis Recreation Services policies, procedures, best practices, and federal / state regulations.Other Info
