Job descriptionProven experience in designing fire alarm and / or fire protection systems Proficiency with CAD software and other design tools Strong knowledge of local codes and fire protection standards Ability to perform accurate hydraulic or voltage-drop calculations NICET Certification (Level II) Excellent communication and teamwork skills Willingness to travel as needed Bachelor's degree in Fire Protection Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline Professional certifications related to fire protection design are a plus Experience with federal, military, or industrial projects is highly desirable but not required.

Position Overview :
We are seeking a full-time Fire Protection Designer to join our team in Richmond, VA. This hybrid role involves designing fire alarm and / or fire protection systems, producing detailed plans and specifications, and ensuring adherence to applicable codes and standards. Responsibilities include collaborating with clients and engineers, performing on-site evaluations, and preparing reports and project documentation.
Key Responsibilities :
- Design of fire alarm and / or fire protection systems, including preparation of detailed drawings
- Perform hydraulic or voltage-drop calculations
- Ensure compliance with local fire protection codes and regulations
- Conduct field evaluations and site inspections
- Collaborate effectively with engineers, clients, and project teams
- Develop technical documentation and reports
